Aleister Crowley; Stephen Skinner (Editor)

“These diaries were written by Aleister Crowley after his expulsion by Mussolini from his abbey of Thelema in Cefalu, Sicily. The records consolidate the work which Crowley initiated in Cefalu and explore more deeply the various techniques of cabbalistic and sexual magic as well as his contact with the Arab magic of North Africa where he spent some years.

As an accurate and scientific record of consistent and well documented magical practice there is little equal to Crowley’s diaries; they are the raw data from which Crowley had hoped the science of magic will rise from the art which ha long been.

The Law of Thelema which Crowley received in 1904 in Cairo overshadows and colors the traditional magic wehich he had learned in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Additionally, the doctrines and magical techniques of the OTO which Crowley had learned from Reus as well as those acquired in his Indian wanderings strongly colored the magic of this period.”
