S. L. MacGregor Mathers; Keith William (Introduction)
Samuel Weiser, Inc., York Beach, Maine, 1995. Hardcover. First Edition. 79 pages. A nice copy in dust-jacket, Near Fine.
Translated from a 17th century manuscript stored in Paris, this is an ancient but still useful book of popularized Christian magic. It is illustrated with intricate sigils. The Grimoire of Armadel is a do-it-yourself text book of ceremonial magick. Written in the 17th Century, it contains detailed descriptions of the natures and offices of various evil spirits. The sigils – seals supposedly giving power over the demons – appropriate to the spiritis are reproduced together with their pratical uses, according to the particular aspect of the astral world which the reader wants to investigate.
